Description

This small chapel, the oldest wooden church in North America, was built in 1747. The first mass was celebrated here by the Jesuits on June 24, 1750. A former place of worship for the Amerindian missions, the Indian chapel has seen its primary vocation change over the years.  Having become an unmissable tourist site on the Haute-Côte-Nord, it presents religious objects from that era are on display, and there is a new multimedia exhibit on missionary life in New France.
