At the heart of Middle Bay, the Interpretation Center offers an immersion into the history and heritage of surrounding villages such as Rivière-Saint-Paul and Vieux Fort. Recently renovated, this center, housed in the old school, permanently exhibits artifacts and images that narrate the region's past. Eastward, the extension of Highway 138 begins at Baie du Vieux-Fort, a community steeped in a fascinating history and vibrant cultural traditions. Sheltered by nearby islands and rugged hills, Vieux-Fort served as a privileged harbor for the earliest European fishing fleets. In summer, the area is bustling with activities: hiking, seabird watching, whale and iceberg spotting, boat excursions, sea kayaking, wild berry picking, salmon fishing, wilderness camping, and off-road driving.
