Description
The Vague de Rires Festival is the brand-new comedy event on the Côte-Nord, taking place in Baie-Comeau from June 18 to 20, 2026. This first edition was created to offer North Shore residents and visitors a dynamic and entertaining cultural experience, without the need to travel long distances to attend professional comedy shows. The festival expects to welcome approximately 2,500 attendees, with around ten performances presented across four different venues in the city, creating a true wave of laughter in the heart of Baie-Comeau. The festival's lineup focuses on diversity and accessibility, featuring about twenty comedians ranging from emerging talent to well-established names from Québec's comedy scene. Among the first artists announced are Martin Vachon, who will serve as the festival's ambassador and headline the opening show, and Ève Côté, who will close the festival as the main headliner. Performances will take place under the Parc des Pionniers big top, as well as in cultural and festive venues such as L'Alternative performance hall, St-Pancrace microbrewery, and the Roger-Thériault Arts Centre, offering festivalgoers a variety of atmospheres and experiences. Beyond the on-stage performances, Vague de Rires aims to become a driving force for cultural and community gathering in Baie-Comeau and across the region. The organizing team—made up of passionate supporters of comedy and local culture—designed the festival to promote inclusion, accessibility, and community engagement, while showcasing North Shore creativity. With its diverse programming, welcoming atmosphere, and strong local roots, Vague de Rires aspires to become a must-see summer event on the Côte-Nord.
