Description

The Pointe-Saint-Gilles coastal woodlands offer about 15 trails over 11 km (7 mi.) in a forest full of woodland plants, century-old trees, rest areas, wood sculptures, interpretive panels, La Fontaine's fables, boardwalks, small bridges and more. A green space of 175 hectares (430 acres) bordering the majestic St. Lawrence River, these coastal woodlands are an exceptional site that includes urban, forest, marine and lake environments, all within one square kilometre. Several lookouts are perfect for a relaxing stop to contemplate sea- and landscapes. The pond, rose garden and three rest areas offer the best views. From these spots, you can see and listen to harbour seals and several species of birds such as common goldeneyes, Barrow's goldeneyes and great blue herons. Located alongside the St. Lawrence, this woodland provides access to Champlain Beach via a trail under the poplars and a trail along the cliffs.
