Description

The mission of the Tadoussac Bird Observatory (OOT) is to acquire data on migratory bird populations, particularly boreal species, in order to assess their demographic trends. Since 1993, research has been carried out mainly on the Dunes de Tadoussac in spring and autumn, but also at Les Bergeronnes in spring. The dunes are world-renowned for the abundance and diversity of migrating birds. Hundreds of thousands of birds pass through the site every year and are counted by professional ornithologists.

In September and October, birds are also captured in order to acquire more information on their physical condition, age, sex, etc. Visitors are invited to observe these great winged travelers up close, and to watch the capture and banding of birds. Visitors are invited to observe these great winged travelers at close quarters, and to watch the birds being captured and banded. Please note that individual visitors should expect a self-guided tour, which is not always available. Please visit our website for more information. At present, there is no dedicated infrastructure or staff for visitors. Some basic infrastructure is used for scientific work by TBO employees, and visitors can observe this work. Groups can request a full interpretation activity (for a fee) by contacting us by e-mail.
