Outdoors

Tourisme Côte-Nord promotes sites that allow you to do outdoor activities. Users are responsible for their own safety and for anyone else they are responsible for. Outdoor activities come with risks and it's the user's responsibility to make sure they respect what their physical limit is, as well as any regulations on site.

Description

The only remaining village on the island, Port-Menier was founded in 1899 by the French industrialist Henri Menier, when he realized that the location made it a better port than the nearby Baie-Sainte-Claire. A handful of homes from this period still remain on rue du Cap-Blanc, facing Baie Gamache. Don't leave without going on the heritage tour, that will take you to 13 different sites in the village and the surrounding area, including Baie-Sainte-Claire, Pointe-Ouest and Anse-aux-Fraises. Ask all the details to one of the travel advisers at the tourist office.
